day 150

Like father, like son.  My goodness, it wasn't until I started editing this photo that I realized that my husband has a 'mini-me'.  Look how they are walking and how they hold their shoulders.... it's a beautiful thing.

day 149

Today we found a new park to explore.  It is no where near where we live, so we won't be able to visit often - but it was great, all the same.  What I loved about it was their use of driftwood.  They had a bridge, seats and a climbing apparatus made out of it.  The slides and rope ladders were pretty neat too.  These are just a few of the pictures from today...I will have to post the 'nature' shots tomorrow.  :)

day 148

One of things that I love to do on a sunny day is wander around a salvage yard and look for treasures.

day 147

Spiderman, always hangin' around, usually by the front door. A welcoming committee of sorts, I guess.  As I was contemplating what to write to go with this late night, agh-what-am-I-going-to-take-a-picture-of picture, I thought of all the mess visual reminders that scream to the world that shows a little boy lives here.  Tonight I was asked if I envied couples without children, their freedom.  I answered without hesitation (and as politely as I could), NO.  We waited for what seemed an eternity (believe me, 4 years of trying to concieve is long time)  and were finally given the most precious gift.  I wouldn't change it for the world.   I remember during those trying years (no pun intended) dreaming of what it would be like to have little feet running around, to have toys scattered and to have someone call you Mommy.  Even though from day one, there were struggles and being a parent is hard, I still wouldn't change it for the world.

day 146

Here's another one from the Parade this past Monday.  This is our favourite part and the reason we come back every year.

day 145

My azaleas are starting to bloom.  This first shot, I took completely by accident - I wasn't even looking through the viewfinder, I was checkng my settings... happy mistake.

I am also thrilled that my photo from day 136 was chosen as one of the Top Five for Fabulous Friday .

day 144

Today was the boy's last day of Ready to Read.  They acted out the Sword and the Stone, very cute.  Boys make me laugh... they are so distractable.. and the class was ALL boys.  This is my boy with his certificate.  So proud of him!

day 140

Today was our 11 year Wedding Anniversary.  It was another beautiful day.  We went out for dinner and drove around Stanley Park.  I love where we live.  Happy Anniversary, Richie, I love you!

Another beautiful day.  We spent the entire afternoon outside.  I am so thankful for the sun.

day 138

Today was so beautiful.  After school today, we (I) wanted to get out, so we went for a drive to look for cheaper gas, went to a favourite dollar store and ended up at the zoo!  (yay for our zoo membership!)  It was so nice to soak up the sun.  The animals seemed to be enjoying it too - most of them were out and about including this hippo - who always seems to be laying down when we visit (can't say as I blame her!)

day 135

I really contemplated not posting anything tonight... I hadn't taken a picture, and my heart wasn't in it.  But then the pineapple called to me... "Take my picture" it said "make me beautiful, for tomorrow...tomorrow I will be eaten!"  ... yeah, you will.
And yeah, I'm tired.... and I get silly when I'm tired....

day 134

Early morning colouring...

And late night snacks.  I think most kids have an accute sense of hearing... especially when it comes to the word ice cream being mentioned.

day 133

My hard working husband after a long day.  Although the boy and I miss him while he works and commutes long hours, we know he does it for us.  Thank you.

day 132

Please excuse the delay in posting this -blogger.com was down for the count.

This photo is completely inspired by my son.  I had given him my cell phone to take a few pictures while we were walking home from school (I think he's ready to use our old point and shoot), he took many, many random shots.  And I mean random in the strongest sense of the word, but it was interesting looking at things through his eyes.  As I was going through my phone looking at some of the pictures, I came across one of the top of a fire hydrant - it was pretty cool.  I loved the texture and the peeling paint.  If I knew how to get the pictures off my phone, I might have posted it here.  This is my tribute to his fire hydrant shot.  And, let me say I got some strange looks from people walking by...it's not everyday you see some woman taking a picture of the top of a fire hydrant.  I tried my hardest to look like I was doing important work and that I was on official business....

day 131

Re-posting this because Blogger.com deleted while they were doing some work on their site..  I can't remember what I said... something about rain going away and having fun with friends from school ::)

day 128

Happy Mother's Day!  Today was pretty special.  I got breakfast in bed.  Growing up, my sister and I loved doing this for my parents.  My sister even had her own menu - Allison's Radical Dude Food.... This morning we didn't have to rush off early for Church, so I got the royal treatment.  The boy was so excited to surprise me.  It was lovely.  I also got this necklace, that he made me at school.  I think he was pretty pleased that I have worn it all day.

day 127

The day of the big garage sale.  I feel like we/ve been preparing for this for months.  Despite the horrible rain, we were successful.  The boy had a lemonade and cookie stand, he did great!  He sold out of cookies pretty fast.  He was delighted.... but told my mom later, that he was tired, becuase it is a lot of work for a five year old to run a lemonade stand all by himself.

day 126

Breakfast at Timothy's :)  The boy and I had a breakfast date this morning.  There was no school today, so it was the perfect opportunity to have a little special Mommy and Son time.   I love having this special time with just the two of us.  Sometimes we have pretty neat conversations... and sometimes we just relax.  Whatever the mood, it is nice to take a break from everyday routine.

day 125

Gambare! Japan! (I believe the translations is Rise Up! Japan!... correct me if I'm wrong)  Tonight there was a fundraiser at the boy's school for earthquake and tsuanmi relief in Japan. His school has a great Japanese Enrichment program - so the devastation that hit Japan has been on the hearts and minds of many of the students and staff.  There were games, sumo wrestling, various demonstrations, oragami and Japanese food.... including Japanese hot dogs!?  It was a fun evening.

day 124

I have been waiting for these tulips for awhile .. insert cheesy joke here...  I planted a few bulbs last fall, and only two of them have shown any promise.  This one is the first to almost bloom.

day 122

Cookies we made to sell at our garage sale this weekend.

day 121

After Church this morning, we went down to the river to try out the boy's kite.  And alhtough it was breezy, it wasn't enough to fly our kite.  Oh well, we had fun.  Lots of great photos.  Well, until we got home tonight and I started editing them.  The comment "Oh, my fly was down the whole time we were out" from my husband is kind of funny, until you realize that, yes, his fly was down the whole time we were out...and fairly obvious in most of the pictures he was in.  Poor guy...
