day 273

Keeping a safe distance from that truckload of port-a-pottys.  Just sayin'.

day 272

I got to go out shopping with my Mom today and we stopped at one of our favourite shops.  That is where I found this. I know it doesn't look like much - but I have got big plans for it.  Clipping cards or pictures to it, changing it seasonally.   Oh, the possibilities are endless.

day 271

Haven't made it to the apple orchard yet.  So, this will have to do.

day 269

Last of this year's beans.... and I think some had been hiding on me.  What do you think?  Is there some sort of bean grwoing competition I can enter? haha.  (the two beans at the top are for reference)

day 265

Me.  I love to read, but I have to limit myself.  I have such a hard time putting books down, that my child, my husband, my house might be neglected.  So, I try to limit myself and practice safe-reading.  To answer a few questions that might come up when looking at this picture.  Yes, I am comfortable.  Yes, I have to hold the book that close (I had taken other shots of me holding the book where normal people do, and decided that wasn't very truthful and not very me).  I have very poor eyesight and  have been wearing glasses since I was a 10 month old babe.  And they (the glasses) can only help so much.  So, when I say, I get lost in a book, I am actually physically in the book, lol.  And lastly, yes, this book is pretty good so far.  Ironically enough it is about a blind woman... somedays, I can really relate.

day 264

Although I felt slightly awkward toting around my camera in the library, I think I am glad I did.  Not too many strange looks.  Luckily for us, it was fairly quiet in the children's section.  It is so exciting to me that my boy is starting to read.  He doubts himself, but surprises us again and again by reading words (or recognizing words we are trying to spell in code...)  I hope he develops a great love of reading.  Sometimes, to be lost in a book is a good place to be.

day 261

I'd say he did a pretty good job lining up the stripes...

day 260

Well, we were planning on going apple picking this morning.  However, it was raining.  Maybe next weekend.  This picture was from 3 years ago when we went.

day 259

I know this is a day early and his birthday is tomorrow... but, I've been saving this picture for a long time!  I miss this little man and his big brother so much.

To my nephew - Happy Birthday!  The big 2.

day 258

My husband is such a good sport and puts up with my quirky sense of humour...  He is starting school today.  Taking another course so that he can be accredited.  I know he'll do great.  And, I am so proud of him.  I was asking my son, what I should write to go with this picture and this is what he told me:  "This is my husband, Rich.  I am married to him.  I love him very much and want to kiss him all the time."  I laughed so loud in Tim Hortons at his candidness, that everyone turned and looked at us.... oh well.   Love them both.

day 257

Being inspired to 'be in the picture' more, I dug out my new wireless remote and set up my camera as my boy and I played lego.  After reading a recent blog post on this subject, I thought to myself, what a shame it would be if my 2011 photo challenge contained little or none of me, doing what I do EVERY day.  Playing.  Will my son look back and wonder where I was?  Or will he remember the countless times I got down on the floor with him to play lego or hotwheels or whatever?
On another note, I had to crank up the ISO on my camera, as it was pretty gray out today.  The challenge with this being, my lovely Nikon D60 does not do high ISO's very well.  They turn grainy and noisy... and I have such a hard time editing them.  So, being as though I don't want to replace my camera for a very long time, I thought I need to get on top of this (and was inspired by another blog post on this subject)..  I had a whole series of pictures from today, but after editing this one... I had had enough!!  (Any insight, into editing with high ISO and noise would be appreciated).

Salsa!

day 255

I guess it's coming to the time of year, fall is just around the corner.  For me, September is usually a month of stocking my freezer and lining my shelves with freshly canned favourites.  I find great satisfaction in that.  And I enjoy the time I get to spend with my Mom.  Here is our Blackberry Jelly.

day 251

"Mommy, you can have Brachy (stuffed animal of the dinosaur variety) today, when you're all by yourself... so you don't get lonely or scared. And, if a stranger comes, just hold him in front of you and he'll protect you." Brachy is sitting on a ledge by the front door, ready to pounce. Strangers, consider yourselves warned. :) Love that boy.

* sorry for the repost from Facebook, I really wanted to document this sweet moment.

day 246

I love days when we have time and opportunity to go for after dinner walks.  I cherish them, as they don't happen very often with the long hours Richie puts in.

day 245

Last day before the long weekend.  Last day of weekday freedom before school starts.  The rules were simple.... no work, no chores, no errands...just play.  And play we did.
